Five‑axis horizontal machining at its best: Makino a630iT
Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany, 23 September 2025 |
World premiere at EMO 2025: The a630iT, Makino’s brand-new 5-axis horizontal machining centre, will be making its global debut at this year’s EMO. The new trunnion type kinematic and the new Professional 7 NC control will ensure the best possible performance in automated production of the most complex components.
Greater flexibility
One of the a630iT’s key strengths is its application flexibility. The newly developed trunnion table – one of the most advanced systems on the market – with its double-driven Z-axis ball screws allows the user to drive the axes to speeds of up to 60 m/min. In addition to the standard 10,000 rpm/721 Nm spindle, the line-up is completed with the brand new high-torque version with up to 1,416 Nm and 8,000 rpm and the high-performance spindle with 15,000 rpm and up to 75 kW. This line-up ensures that almost all steel, casting or aerospace titanium structural components can be machined. And as the a630iT uses the same pallet as the 4-axis Makino a81nx, it can be easily integrated into a flexible manufacturing system for automated operation.
Optimal usability with the new NC control Professional 7
The new Professional 7 NC control has been coded to improve the usability and simplify the control of several machines from a unique NC control. Professional 7 also includes the latest Fanuc FS500i hardware, which brings a huge increase in processing power. A new 24-inch screen is available for an improved user experience and a multi-functional switch panel will ensure optimal ergonomics. Other useful functions include system status monitoring, program selection error prevention, machining unit status checks and machining time prediction, which enables more economical management of operator call times.
Enhanced performance
The spindles on offer for the a630iT will increase throughput times in machining all materials. In particular for hard-to-cut materials, the new 1,400 Nm high-torque electro-spindle will make new levels of MRR possible. The latest Fanuc control and new servo motors bring faster acceleration and block processing times through reducing the cycle time for any component. Moreover, the machine’s feed rate has been increased to up to 60 m/min on all linear axes. In addition, the a630iT enables more efficient chip evacuation thanks to technological improvements that prevent chip stacking and direct discharging to a centre trough.
The world premiere of the Makino a630iT will take place in Hall 12, Booth C31 of Hannover Exhibition Centre from September 22-26.
